Girls,
We need to stop it. We need to stop with comparing. We need
to stop telling ourselves that we're not good enough. We need to stop with the
shaming and the gossiping. It's not a race or a contest.
This is life.
We each have our own lives and our own ways of doing things.
Girls are told from a young age that they need to be thin
and tan like all the models we see in magazines, billboards, and on T.V.
We are told that that is pretty. We need to be that kind of
beautiful and that is they way to get guys to like you. That is not true!!
We are all beautiful
in our own way. We are all Daughters of God. We are all unique in our own ways
that is what makes us beautiful. Life would be boring if everyone looked and
acted the same.
I have struggled with this all my life just as most girls
have. Jr. high and high school was the worst. But I got to college and had the
most wonderful roommates who taught me to love me for me, by body included. I don’t
have to look like I came out of a magazine to be beautiful and worth something.
One of my roommates told me that “one day I would find a man
who loved everything about me including the thinks I didn’t like”. The one’s that you think about every time you look in the mirror. She was right!
I did find that man and whenever I say anything about my thighs being too big
or I feel fat. He always tells me I am beautiful and helps me see myself through
his eyes which I know is helping me see me through Christ’s eyes.
Everyone has days they are down on themselves and don’t feel
good about what they see on the mirror. On those days I think about what my
Heavenly Father sees and not what I see.
