Move Across the Country

Utah to New York

My husband and I just recently moved from Utah to New York. Chris got a job offer and we couldn’t say no. So we both quit are jobs and started packing. IT took us awhile to finally move since we had so many things to wrap up I Utah before we moved across the country and also we had to fit in some playing too.
Road conditions got bad around Cleveland
We left Utah late Wednesday night. Our Budget truck loaded up and my car on a trailer behind, and our pets in the cab to stay warm.  It still didn’t seem real. It felt like a vacation and we’ll be home soon. Chris drove through the night while a laid down across the seat and slept. We hit Nebraska and stopped for fuel. Chris turned the truck off and then it wouldn’t start. Some mechanic at the gas station looked at it and said we need coolant. So Chris got some put it in and it stated right up. So for the next couple stations we did not turn off the truck to fill up. (Which is ok with diesel) since we were in the middle of nowhere. Than we hit North Platte and decided we need to truck fixed. Turned it off and it would not start. So we sat at a gas station for 4.5 hours until budget could get someone to help us. Than we got towed to a International truck repair place. We stayed there for about 2 hours and then got a hotel. Budget paid for the hotel and food. So we were stuck in North Platte for a little over 2 days. It was SO cold. It was 6 degrees the whole time and then with wind chill in the negatives.

Bure looking out the window as we drive.

The Car got so dirty driving through Cleveland. They really need to learn to plow the roads.

Pennsylvania!

At a truck stop. This truck is pulling a trailer full of sheep. They where noisy and kept sticking there faces out.

Hotel in North Platte. I am okay if I never go to Nebraska again.

We got the truck back Saturday about noon and we drove straight to New York. We stayed with our friends Dylan and Brianne Sunday night and got our place Monday afternoon.
Chris gets props for driving 34 hours straight with most of time me sleeping or reading. Near the end we where both getting cabin fearer and were so ready to get be in New York and to never see the Budget truck again.
I do not ever want to drive across country again. The next time we move I think it would be worth it to fly and then get a Pod and have someone else bring it for us.

So far idk if I like New York. but one thing I know I do not like our tolls. What are the point? the roads in Utah are better and we have tolls also we plow the roads when it snows.

What do you want to be when you grow up?

What do you want to be when you grow up?

Is a question that everyone gets asked many times growing up. I would always say Vet but honestly I wanted to say a Vet and a Mother!!

To this day I still want to be a mother! Yes, I love working and helping pay the bills but honestly all I really want is to have my own family.
There is a lot out in the world saying that to be accomplished you must look outside the home. I do not believe that. I believe being a mother is just as important as a career. I would give mine up to be a mom and I know many women who would too. I have many friends that have.

I recently read an article about how having a career is better than a stay at home mom. The author of the article was rude and it was only one sided. She said that anyone can get married and have kids but not everyone can make it in the business world. That is not true! I know woman who desperately want to get married but have never had the chance and woman who all they want is a child but cannot have one.

No one should put some else down for choosing to be a mom over having a career and the other way around.

I have also heard that woman who have an education and choose to be mother and not use that education are wasting it. I do not believe that either.

Growing up who taught you the most?
You mother
Mothers who are educated pass on that knowledge to the next generation. A mother can pass on her education to her children. No education is ever wasted.

I do not believe being a mother is less worthy then being educated and being a successful business woman.

Feeling 22

Yesterday was my 22nd Birthday and it was AMAZING!!! I have the best husband ever!

He told me that he was going to do a half day at work. So he got up and left. My back was hurting me so I got up to eat breakfast. Just as I was about to start eating the door to the garage opened and scared me so bad I jumped!! It was Chris and he had flowers! He was planning on surprising me and making me breakfast in bed. But I ruined it.  I didn't care I was just happy he didn't go work :)

Than we went to the Hogle Zoo!!! I love the zoo! I know that most people the zoo is not where they would want to spend their 22nd birthday but I LOVED it! I love animals!!!

I LOVE this picture!!!

After the zoo we went to Panda Express for Lunch. I love Panda!!! than we went to go look at a beareded dragon. That is what Chris is getting me for my birthday, but the tank was to small. So sometime this week I will be getting one :)

Than we went up Bountiful Canyon and had a fire with friends! I was so happy that so many people came! Everyone one says once you are married you are dead. I think Chris and I are doing a good job at not being dead

It was a GREAT Birthday!! Thank you everyone for making it a great day :)

Some families go out to eat together, Mine goes off-roading

I have grown up going Jeeping with my family. So no surprise that I married a man who loves going off-roading. He doesn't own a jeep (sadly) but he does have a sweet truck.

We where planning on going to the Three Lakes that are behind Francis Peak but there was a big pile of snow on the road.  So of course Chris had to try to drive over it even though he knew he couldn't.

Since we couldn't go to the Three Lakes we turned around and found a different trail to take. The one that Chris choose to take was a trail made for Quades. It was tiny for his big truck. We had to pull trees out of the way just to get though. Also there where a couple of times  where only two tires where on the ground.

It was crazy!

This is Chris' story of this picture:

"I was driving along on this freakishly overgrown, narrow trail and am about 20 feet from the exit when nature lashes out in an attempt to kill me. Or maim. I had my window down and this sharp branch launched into the cab just missing my head. I literally didn't move until I had Erica snap a photo. That was a near miss. Or maybe I mean a 'near hit.' Whatever, still breathing."

We had a lot fun!! But we always do when we go off-roading. This year Farmington Canyon is open again so we going to be going a lot more :)

Summer Solstice

For the longest day of the year I went rock climbing with Chris, Brad and McKenzie. It was a blast!! We went to a place in Bountiful Canyon. It was beautiful.

Everyone was a lot better at climbing this wall than I was. I think it was because I was the shortest, and the least experienced.

It took a while to find this wall. Brad had climbed it before but did not know how to get there.  After looking around a while we decided to walk up this road that was gated off to vehicles. The rock is about 1/3mile up that road. Last time Brad went there he drove up to the rock, so that is why it was hard to find.

It is right next to a stream is it makes talking to each other a little difficult especially if you are the one climbing.
Although I am not the best at rock climbing I love doing it and I love going so that I can get better!

Cabin

Over Memorial Weekend we went up to to Grandma Wiggins cabin. We helped rip up part of the deck. They get a lot of snow up in Oakley and it falls off the roof onto that part of the deck. It was old and rotten and not safe to walk on.

Chris and I left after church ( which was our last week in this ward since we are moving into my in-laws home while they are on a mission) on Sunday. We got there about 6 pm and we went exploring for a little while and than has a yummy BBQ dinner.

Monday we got early and worked all day. We tore up the deck( I didn't get any pics of that because I was to busy working) and worked on some bridges that go over the stream to the fire pit. Oh, we took a break and shot BB guns for a while. But It was fun going to the cabin and working :)

Haha I have no idea what Chris is doing in this picture.

 Pictures of inside the cabin.

Tedd and Sue are the ones the primary help grandma with the cabin. But Chris and I love to help when we can

We shoot the BB guns at cans on the fence. I shot all of them before Chris did!!
